Q.
What is Bullion Jewelry?™
It is both an adornment and an investment for discerning tastes. Each
Bullion Bracelet™ is created from precious metal and sells strictly by
weight, at a price based on the daily market price of gold. Your
bracelet is an elegant, handcrafted work of art in 14K or 18K gold. But
that's only the beginning. That beautiful bracelet encircling your
wrist (or the wrist of someone you love) also weighs exactly one ounce,
or 2.5 ounces, and its price is exactly that day's price-per-ounce on
the New York spot gold market. Both men and women wear Bullion
Bracelets with equal pleasure. All American Bullion Jewelry is handmade
in the U.S.A.
Q. How is it
priced?
When you're ready to purchase your Bullion Jewelry™,
simply check the current New York spot price of gold:
Please be patient; prices may be slow to load. You must have JavaScript enabled to view this feature.
If the
spot price is $850, your one-ounce bracelet will be $850, and your
2.5-ounce will be $2,125 (2.5 x $850). If the spot price is $1,000,
your one-ounce bracelet will be $1,000 and your 2.5-ounce bracelet will
be $2,500. The spot price and your price-per-ounce are the same,
always. The price of gold fluctuates. It has its strong ups and downs.
Yet throughout all recorded history, gold has been considered a
reliable store of value, even (and perhaps especially) when currencies
falter. Many experts believe that gold could rise to $2,000 an ounce or
even $2,500 an ounce within the next few years. Of course no one knows
what the future actually holds. Yet buying now may be your best
insurance against soaring precious-metal prices.
Q. Why Bullion
Jewelry™ rather
than some other form of jewelry?
Typically, the price of jewelry is vastly more than the value of its
gold content. For instance, let's say that you go to a jewelry store
and find a bracelet for $1,000. It's lovely. But its gold content might
be only 1/3 of a troy ounce. If spot gold is at $900 that day, that
beautiful bauble contains just $300 worth of gold. Or to put it another
way, you're paying $3,000 per ounce for its gold content. OUCH! Worse,
many jewelry makers are starting to make their pieces even lighter as
gold becomes more expensive. Our answer? use more
gold, not less! With one-ounce 14K and 2.5-ounce 18K BullionBracelets™,
you get a far, far higher percentage of gold for the price than you
typically get when buying jewelry. And you still get a full measure of
beauty, craftsmanship, and pleasure.
Q. Why Bullion
Jewelry™ rather
than pure gold bullion?
You could store a portion of your wealth in gold bullion coins or bars.
In fact, it may be a good idea. But you can't enjoy the mellow gleam of
that gold in a candlelit restaurant or feel its reassuring weight
against your skin as you make an important business presentation. Your
Bullion Bracelet™
gives you the best of both worlds --
handcrafted art and a measured, hallmarked, and
guaranteed quantity of gold.
Q. How do I
order?
Simply use our secure online order
form or order by telephone. Call toll-free 1-877-520-5202.
Q. Do you have a
retail store?
No, we could never have these low prices if we had the expense and
upkeep of a retail store. Ordering is easy via our secure online order form or by
telephone: toll-free 1-877-520-5202.
Q. How can you
sell at the gold market price?
Actually, we are selling slightly above the gold market price, as we
work on that narrow margin between the alloyed gold in the bracelets
and pure gold (also called fine gold or 24K). The fourteen karat gold
in your one-ounce Bullion Bracelet™ is
at least 58.3 percent pure gold; the 18 karat gold in your 2.5-ounce
bracelet is 75.0 percent pure gold. Fine gold, on the other hand, is
99.9 percent pure. While the difference is small, it allows us to bring
these Bullion Bracelets™ to
you at a remarkably low price.
Q. Still, how can
you maintain such low prices?
We are a family-owned business and our designers and craftsmen are
independent goldsmiths. From our hands directly to yours keeps the cost
down.
Q.
What is the difference between 14K, 18K and pure gold?
Pure (or fine) gold is too soft for most jewelry applications. It dents
and and wears quickly. Modern metallurgy has created the most practical
and beautiful metal by combining pure gold with certain other alloys,
to achieve both beauty and long life.
Here is the official
gold-content purity standard
10K = .4170 fine gold
14K = .5830 fine gold
18K = .7500 fine gold
24K = .9990 fine gold
Q.
How can the 14k once-ounce bracelet and the 18k 2.5-ounce bracelet be
the same price per ounce?
The 2.5-ounce bracelets are certainly more costly to us and more
difficult to produce. They also contain a higher purity of gold. You'd
think we would have to price them higher per ounce. But we can sell
them at the same per-ounce price as our 14k bracelets because of
economies of scale -- that is, more gold per each bracelet and less
labor than 2-1/2 bracelets.
Q.
Aren’t the 18k bracelets a better value?
Yes certainly, because they contain a slightly higher purity of gold,
.583 vs.750 fine gold.
Q.
Then why doesn’t everyone buy the 18k bracelet?
Besides their higher price (2.5 times higher), there are times when
buyers prefer a lighter bracelet. Many customers like to wear several 1
ounce bracelets together in clusters, while others prefer the classic 1
oz. bar for its timeless but simple beauty. In an emergency, there are
advantages to having several 1 oz. bracelets instead of one 2.5 oz
bracelet, although of course the opposite is true also. I guess that
proves you just can’t lose with either choice.
Q.
Then why don’t you make a 1 oz. 18k bracelet?
In the one ounce weight and smaller dimensions, 14k gold is superior in
strength and durability to the softer 18k. However, when you more than
double its weight, 18k gold is our preferred alloy. Remember, we build
them to last and they do!
Q.
Your jewelry is 14k and 18k. Why are you selling it at the New York
spot price, which is for .999 fine gold or 24k? Is that fair?
A. YES. And it's actually an excellent value in jewelry. We've
explained some of the hows and whys here and given extensive details on
the math here. But you might think of it this
way: all jewelry is always priced higher than its pure metal value.
Even mass produced, stamped out bullion coins command a premium over
the NY spot price for 5,000-ounce rough ingots.
By far, the largest single cost in our
bracelets is of course the pure gold. In the 14k bracelet, it is 58.3%
pure and the 18k bracelet is 75% pure gold.
However, other costs beyond this are
incurred, such as; a premium for buying quantities of gold under 5,000
ounces, alloying the gold to exacting 14k or 18k standards and
fabricating this alloy into a useable form and temper for goldsmithing,
the actual hand forging and hand crafting of the Bracelet, order
processing, packaging, advertising, web site, office overhead, etc.
Because the price of gold, which is
overwhelmingly our single highest expense is daily, even
hourly, fluctuating (and often other costs as well), we've chosen
the New York spot price as the simplest, most understandable way at
including these and other expenses and arriving at a fair price and a
great value, regardless of the fluctuating cost of the gold on the
market and in your bracelet.
We mean really, would you rather remember:
gold spot x .750 + 4% + 8% +11% +8% x 2.5 = Selling price for the 2.5
oz. 18k bracelet (or some such formula) or just remember:
We always
sell our jewelry at the same
price per ounce as the N.Y.spot gold price.
A 1-ounce 14K
Bullion Bracelet = NY spot gold price per ounce.
A 2.5-ounce 18K Bullion Bracelet = NY spot gold price per ounce x 2.5.
We
firmly believe that "Honest Value Never
Fails."
Q. What is a
hallmark and why does it matter?
A Hallmark is a permanent stamp upon an item of jewelry that denotes
the purity of the precious metal and the registered maker. In the
United States there is no requirement for jewelry to be marked with the
purity. However, if it is so marked (either on a tag or on the piece)
it must be accompanied by the maker's mark. American Bullion Jewelry
takes this one step further to give you a certified and recognized
value. We proudly stamp our registered hallmark and the gold purity
into each and every 14K & 18K gold bracelet, plus
we mark each creation with its guaranteed weight -- an extra touch of
security, hidden within your elegantly sensuous Bullion Bracelet™.
We accompany this with a separate certificate of authenticity and
weight ticket.
Q. Can I lock in
the gold price when I place my order?
Yes. When you place your order by telephone, the price is locked in for
you. If gold goes up the next day, you will still pay only the price
that you are guaranteed when you place your telephone
order. Usually, there is not a tremendous difference in
day-to-day prices, but significant price swings can occur. When you
order via our secure online order
form, your price is not locked in until we send you email
confirmation and you respond with an email acknowledgement. If you
place your online order when we are closed, we will send confirmation
on the next business day. Then we must receive your acknowlegement
within one business day or your order will be automatically cancelled
without penalty.
Q. How do you
ship?
We ship only by U.S. Postal Service Express Mail, insured, and with
signature confirmation. We have found that, while there are many fine
delivery services, when it comes to secure, insured delivery, nothing
beats the U.S.Postal Service for reliability. Their rates are
comparable and they have secure offices everywhere. Next-day delivery
is guaranteed in many locations, with two-day delivery guaranteed in
others. Your Bullion Bracelet™ will
also come in its own lined wooden box, suitable for gift-giving and
elegant storage.
Q. Have you been
in business a long time?
While we have many decades of combined jewelry, goldsmithing, and
business experience, our company, American Bullion Jewelry LLC, is a
recent venture. Our enterprise is designed to bring you a new concept
in jewelry and the best possible value. We are members and fully
support and adopt the professional and ethical standards of The
Society of North American Goldsmiths, The
Jewelers Vigilance Committee, and The
Jewelers Security Alliance. We are accredited by the Better
Business Bureau.
Q. Does one size
fit everyone? If not, how do I determine my size?
No -- although sadly many jewelry companies think their goods do. We
make six sizes of most bracelets to ensure a comfortable fit. Just
measure around your wrist, as described on our “What Size”
page, and tell us your measurement in inches. We'll do the
rest.
Q. Are these
bracelets sturdy?
My goodness yes! When you hold a Bullion Bracelet™, you will instantly
understand the difference between many other bracelets and ours. We
build them to last and they do.
Q. Are they
guaranteed?
Yes. First of all, we offer a 10-day, no-questions-asked return policy.
If you aren't delighted with your bracelet for any
reason, just return it to us, insured, in its original box in as-new
condition and we'll refund your money or send you a replacement, as you
choose. Your return postmark must be within 10 days of our original
shipping postmark. Beyond that, all Bullion Bracelets™ are
absolutely and unconditionally guaranteed for a lifetime against
defects in workmanship or materials. See more details on our terms
and guarantee page.
Q. Should I wear
my bracelet all the time?
Many people do. They actually feel naked without it. Although please
remember, there may be certain times when you'll want to wear it
discreetly, so as to not make a public display of wealth. At many other
times, a brilliant display of wealth or beauty is exactly what you
desire. In both cases, you have the security of knowing that your
elegant investment is with you.
Q.
Is this bracelet a good investment?
As with most rare commodities, gold is used as a means of storing real
wealth. It is not an "investment" in the same sense as a stock or a
bond. Yet in many ways, a Bullion Bracelet™ pays a better dividend, because you can
enjoy its beauty every day, as an item of adornment. Gold locked away
in a vault is hard to appreciate. Bullion Jewelry™ gives you a commodity of beauty that you can
wear and use. A Bullion Bracelet™ may also be a good "investment" if someone
you love is depressed or upset with you; give them this gift and watch
their interest rise.
